From as far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the sea and the marine environment and therefore a career in marine biology was a very natural transition.  In the course of my studies and my earlier work I became aware of the devastating problems facing the oceans – the decline of fish populations caused by over fishing and of the ever increasing coastal pollution.

In a world where food availability and security has become ever more important, it became clear to me that there was an urgent need to develop reliable and sustainable processes for producing fish. It has long been my goal to develop these processes whilst reducing waste, energy consumption and the use of antibiotics, to produce fish that are both safe for consumption and the environment.

My career has focused on building facilities and developing “egg to plate” processes for the ever growing aquaculture sector. I have, in parallel, trained countless technicians around the world in the delicate art of fish production.

I continue to be passionate about my work and committed in my quest.  I am constantly inspired and motivated by my interactions with like minded professionals who work towards mutual goals of making aquaculture profitable, sustainable and an industry that is respected and valued across the globe
